Description

What is MOTS-c?

MOTS-c, short for mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c (CAS 1627580-64-6, molecular formula C101H152N28O22S2, molecular weight 2174.6 g/mol), is a 16-amino-acid peptide. It is encoded by a short open reading frame within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene.[1]

Research background

MOTS-c was first described in 2015 in Cell Metabolism, in a study characterizing it in cell and mouse models.[1] Later reviews describe it as acting mainly through the folate-AICAR-AMPK pathway.[2]

Format and documentation

Atlas Labs Bio supplies MOTS-c as a white to off-white lyophilized powder in sealed glass vials at 10 mg and 40 mg. Every batch is tested by an independent third-party laboratory, and the certificate of analysis for the batch currently shipping is linked on this page and in the COA Library.

Storage: Store at 2-8°C.
