Description

What is VIP?

Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), also referenced as aviptadil (CAS 37221-79-7, molecular formula C147H237N43O43S, molecular weight 3326.8 g/mol), is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide.

Research background

VIP acts through two class B G protein-coupled receptors, VPAC1 and VPAC2, which it shares with the related neuropeptide PACAP. The pharmacology of these receptors is summarized in an International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) review.[1]

Format and documentation

Atlas Labs Bio supplies VIP as a white to off-white lyophilized powder in a sealed 10 mg glass vial. Third-party certificates of analysis for Atlas Labs Bio products are published in the COA Library.

Frequently asked questions

Which receptors does VIP bind?

VPAC1 and VPAC2.[1]

How is VIP related to PACAP?

VIP and PACAP are related neuropeptides that share the VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors. PACAP also has its own selective receptor, PAC1.[1]

Can VIP be used by people?

No. Atlas Labs Bio products are sold strictly for laboratory research use and are not for human or animal consumption.
